The Buffy/Angel episode you are thinking of is probably first season Angel, an episode called room w/a vu.

It centred around cordelia getting the perfect apartment to find it is haunted. Turns out the woman who lived there didn't like her son dating, so bricked him behind a wall, to stop him.
