"Let's just be friendlies."

So I know we've talked about crossovers in general before, but last night I was watching Sons of Anarchy and thought "Damn, but Gemma Teller and Kara Thrace could have an awesome chat over some beers."  I tweeted the thought to a friend who suggested they could have a one-upping contest:

Gemma: "I clocked a bitch in the face with a skateboard."
Kara: "I pushed a bitch off a cliff and killed her. Did I mention she was a machine?" .

This is pretty much a recurring theme with me. A week or two ago I was very keen on Johanna Mason (from The Hunger Games series) and Kara facing off in Katniss and Peeta's games (obviously timeline would have to be tweaked a bit) and having an Inigo-Wesley kind of showdown with axes and knives, where they grudgingly come to respect each other's fine sarcasm skills and talent with weilding deadly sharp objects. (i.e. "You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you."/"You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die.")

Usually crossovers tend to have Kara interacting with a man (Captain Mal Reynolds, Kirk from Star Trek, etc.) but I think I just want to give her female friends, honestly. What awesome women would you like to see Kara interact with? What would they do together?

1. Sam Carter (SG1). They would have sex be awesome together & fly Vipers. [You can blame [livejournal.com profile] lyssie for this one.]

2. Aeryn Sun (Farscape): Badass pilots who'd drink & frak & be merry snarky together.

3. Cameron (T:SCC): Cylons/terminators...same diff. And I think Cameron would find Kara fascinating.

4. Alice or Claire or Jill (Resident Evil): Kara Thrace, Zombie Killer? Yes, please!

...I'm sure there's more...

with Tami Taylor! I would love that!

Kara is an insubordinate student but a great athlete with, as we know, an abusive mother and an absent father (nothing unusual in Dillon... )
Tara would help Kara to find that she is not only good at sports, but that she is also smart and sensitive, that she can be very good in math as in english, and that she can do whatever she wants with her life. Tami would help Kara to spread her wings. yeah. now I want to read that fic...

Lt. Rowe, StarTrek TNG. I don't know what they'd do but I imagine it would be fun to see year 2 characters interact.

Oh, I do this all the time. Imagine Kara interacting with my favorite women from other shows. It's great fun.

I really love the idea of Kara and Zoe (from Firefly) interacting. I think they would maybe clash at first--very different personalities--but would end up with a sort of mutually unspoken understanding. I would totally ship them.

Also Kara and Debra Morgan. I don't know what they would do together, but it would be awesome. They could be roommates, or even partners in my imaginary AU (that I've just created) in which Kara joins Miami Metro.

Also Martha Jones (from Doctor Who). No real reason, except that I love Martha. They could be friends, but with Martha reigning in Kara's crazier impulses.

Cool topic!

1. Zoe (Firefly): they are both pretty badass and I think Zoe's calm fierceness and wry sense of humor would appeal to Kara.

2. Cristina (Grey's Anatomy) Her singlemindedness (yes, I know that's not really a word) and her not taking crap from anyone would make her a good friend for Kara. Also, C will give Kara a run for her money in the eye-rolling department.

3. Kate (Lost) although I feel like Kara would wack her in the head when she gets all moony over Jack or Sawyer. But she's totally get the whole "oh hell no, I'm not staying behind while you boys do all the work" thing that Kate's got going for her.

Hmm ... who else? Does it have to be TV characters or do books/movies count?

(See? I commented!)

also with Janeway. Janeway is a great captain strong and dedicated, maybe at the beginning it would be difficult between these two but then Janeway would gain the respect of Kara The Maquis, great pilot but not so great with discipline, and Janeway would learn to appreciate this member of her crew, a pain in the ass but one hell of an officer when it comes to action.

and what about Inara?! Kara would go for the sex but then Inara would break into Kara's soul.

I like this game... and you are right, Kara deserve more female friends in her life.

You know I love me some Kara/Faith. They would have shots, tell each other exactly nothing about their childhoods, shoot the shit, and probably have some really hot casual flinging.

First off, how awesome are you quoting the princess bride (HOLY FRAK MORE XOVER IDEAS!)?
Secondly, how well would Kara fit into Charlie's Angels? I think she'd have fun.
Also, I think Kara and Robin from HIMYM would share a Scotch and stogie follwed by a trip to the shooting range.
An interaction with Irina Derevko might be in order as well...just because I think it would be delicious.
Does it count that I would love for Kara to beat the crap out of Kate on Lost? Because I do.

Hee.
cheers.

These are less action-y, but I could see Kara being neighbors with the March girls in Little Women; I think her relationships with the four of them and Laurie could be a lot of fun (I like imagining her inserting herself into a large, functional family and yet still, like Laurie, feeling a bit on the outside).

I could see her fighting alongside Eowyn in Lord of the Rings.

This is a bit obscure, but I think she would get along well with the heroines in Elizabeth Marie Pope's YA novels - Kate in The Perilous Gard and Barbara in The Sherwood Ring.

And if I had to choose a Star Trek character to lock her in a room with, it would be either Kira (for a personality similar to hers) or Uhura (for a personality similar to Lee's). I think either one would make for an interesting mix with her.

I don't know what she and Leia would make of each other.

One of my favorite sci-fantasy books of all time is The Deed of Paksenarrion. I have ALWAYS seen Pax as a somewhat more stable version of Kara Thrace. She's tough and smart and hardened. She kicks ass, never wants to marry, wants to be a warrior, and defies convention by doing it. She has a best (male) friend who is probably in love with her, but they never quite make it work. (NOT a love story.) And she has this amazing destiny! (But in this case, she is in control of it.) Oh goodness... I could go on forever.

So yeah. Kara and Pax kick ass on orcs, trolls and cylons. I could totally see it.
