Reading is Fundamental

If Kara had a favorite book, what would the title be? (Feel free to use a real one or make one up entirely!)

What kind of book? Is she a secret romance fan? Does she love spy novels? Would she read non-fiction? Is "Zen and the Art of Viper Maintenance" her bible? ;)

I think she'd be reading something action-oriented, gritty with mythology thrown in. She seems to enjoy poetry, so maybe a poetry anthology or a biography of a famous artist? I can see her enjoying some inspirational stories by famous people, too. So, biographies, action-adventure, poetry? Sure. Sounds good to me.

For some reason, I keep coming back to d'Aulaire's Greek Mythology (http://www.amazon.com/DAulaires-Greek-Myths-Ingri-dAulaire/dp/0440406943/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306162600&sr=8-1-fkmr0) (well, or the Colonial version- Kobolic Myths?). It goes along with her love of poetry and her quiet religiousity, and also speaks to an escapism I think a younger Kara might have needed to embrace.

She knows the Sacred Scrolls really, really well. She wouldn't let you catch her reading them, though.

Doctor Zhivago
because there is everything in this book, an epic love story that is the metaphor of the history itself, because Pasternak is a poet and every word he wrote it's perfect. because Kara has good taste.

Well, our girl surprised us all the time (Caprican poetry? Who knew..)

I think she'd probably have a fairly eclectic range of tastes in literature (there is the said Caprican poetry)- she knew her mythology well and probably reads it on the quiet, but her Starbuck side probably likes the odd shoot-'em-up action kind of book, maybe even murder mysteries. And yeah, I definitely think she likes action movies and slapstick humour too.

Westerns. I see her with a dog-eared Louis L'Amour. She'd like that. ;-)

I kindof have her pegged as the sort to sneak peeks at romance novels in her locker and quickly stow them when anyone came near. I figure she'd like a good western murder mystery, too!
(This is one of my very, very favorite caps of her from the show. *sigh*)
