On a Wing and a Prayer

This is a very quick screencap of the moment right before Starbuck (and Apollo) catch Chief and Cally being blown out of the airlock onto the rescue raptor in A Day in the Life. I really loved that moment because it was kind of a rare one by late S3 where you saw the Galactica team working together to save each other again. <3

So true :( *sighs*

*sigh, sniff* It always struck me as a tiny bit odd that Kara seemed so, well, normal and like her old self between TAB and Maelstrom. Makes it that much sadder when Maelstrom finally happens :(

I felt like treatment of Kara in S3 was really cursory and inconsistent. She's clearly been traumatised by what happened on New Caprica and I think that carries right through to Maelstrom, but only in fits and starts. There's the quad of doom and those missed chances between pilots but it feels played out in a really odd way. Then there's the way talk of the mandala and her destiny disturbs her (tying back in to the New Caprica related trauma to some extent), but again, it's not done in any consistent way. I feel like I could almost be reconciled with what happens in Maelstrom if her mental state is referenced consistently (and I don't mean all the time, but a small clue in every episode, or every other episode) and builds towards what is clearly the climax where she essentially kills herself.

Sorry, I think I've rambled a bit there and it's maybe a bit unclear what I was driving at - I'm also off topic for this pic, so I'll shut up now :)

I'll chime in to say, I agree with both you and [livejournal.com profile] taragel - it would probably have been better for the show as a whole if they'd dealt with it a little better, drop a hint somewhere in between that she's still not ok.

I mean, it makes sense that after things go down the drain with Lee she feels worse, but we never really get to see that in ADITL or Dirty Hands. They're admittedly not Kara-centric, but like you said, a clue or two would have gone a long way.
