Maybe it's with Sydney Bristow's...

Speculation time--Kara's missing (full or partial) ovary? How did you expect or would have liked to seen that storyline play out--assuming it was different than canon? Did you expect a legit pregnant Starbuck to show up at one point? Did you think they'd push harder with the "Kacey being made of her ovary" bit (or at least make the timing/age of Kacey more easily believable in line with that?)? Did you think Kara would or should have gone on a rescue mission to save/destroy her ovary a la Sid Bristow in Alias?

Agh that storyline so made no sense on so many levels. If the reason they know she's special is from Leoben, he'd have also told them that the reason she's special is because of Earth, not because of her ovaries. And if they had thousands of women on these farms and it wasn't working why did they keep doing it? And what happened to these women when the Cylons left Caprica? (And why doesn't anyone seem to care, or even raise the possibility of going back for them?) And seriously WTF with the 'better dead than raped' thing? Headdesk forever.

If I were going to make sense of it...the Cylons were harvesting ova to use as genetic material in building new Cylon bodies, not to reproduce. So when Caprica Six is downloaded, the body she downloads into is grown from ova taken from human women. That isn't any less creepy, but at least it makes sense. It would also then make sense why Sue-Shaun would want to die rather than to keep living like this, because the Cylons can only continue to download (and be immortal) as long as they have a supply of human ova. This raises the question of why they'd kill most humans if they needed human ova for continued survival, but maybe they figured a few thousand human women could give them all the ova they needed.

And then if you wanted to go there you could have Leoben downloading into bodies made from Kara's ova on New Caprica every time she kills him. I think that would've been beautifully creepy and horrifying, and also the sort of thing Leoben would do.

The Cylons were pretty flaky to begin with - first it was "Kill All Humans! Rinse, Repeat!" then it was "procreate with what's left of them!", then it became "oopsie, we made a mistake, our bad, now can we subjugate you humans please?" and then finally it was "ok, the bad cylons suck and we're rebelling and joining forces with humans with no forcible knocking-up or whimsical killing.!

I'm not always sure where I expected the story line with Kara and her ovary to go, but it would have been great if it had gone somewhere. If teh Farms had come back or there had been more half-cylon children as a result. Or even if the Farms had been declared a failure and now they were trying soemthing else. But I liked the idea that the cylons wanted to 'mate' with humans in order to have children instead of resurrecting. And it made sense that Kara's child would be highly prized by, if none of the other cylons at least, Leoben.

I'm torn about having a legit pregnant Kara. It doesn't entirely hit with the character or the story being told, but it could have been interesting. Kara choosing motherhood instead of flying into the storm for instance. Or Kacey having really been Kara's child.

I never wanted Kara to be a mother while they were still trying to find Earth. That said, Kacey was the cutest thing!

The whole Farm issue with Kara was poorly done/explained. It made no sense that they were interested in her ovary because she was special. And because she was special, it seemed they'd have made 'other' arrangements for her.

Maybe the taking of the ovary could have been a compromise. Where most women they just hooked up to the machines like Sue-Shaun, with Kara they had other plans for her and yet wanted/needed every viable ovary. So, harvest one/both of hers and then shuttle her off to...whatever.

I could see a scenario where Leoben was promised her after the Simons got what they wanted first.

Per Deborah's comment: I never saw the show promoting 'better dead than raped'. To me, it was more 'better dead then hooked up to machines and used as a human incubator until death'. It was definitely a form of rape but that was the collateral result, not the intent. That, of course, was NOT the same as Sharon's suggestion that Kara could have been paired with someone she 'liked'. The context definitely shifts then.
