How do you think Kara came to love flying? Is it something she knew immediately when she first got into a flight simulator at the Academy? Did it happen before that--was there some incident before she enlisted that made her knew she wanted to fly/be a pilot?

How about her mother? Where does she fit into the picture? Socrata was a marine sargeant. Is it surprising or expected that Kara also joined the military?
