I'd like to spread the word about a new fannish project called We Love The Women That Fandom Hates. It is supposed to spread the love of female characters, especially those that are despised in fandom. I am certain that every member of this community truly loves Kara but is also aware of the hate that is sometimes directed at female characters, seemingly for no real reason. This project is dedicated to appreciating female characters and fighting misogyny in fandom!

Participants can claim up to three female characters they feel are under-appreciated/hated in fandom and post about them every day for a week. Anything goes! Kara is also on that list. You can find more info HERE. Banner, including my Kara banner, can be found here.

If you feel that Kara, Dee, Boomer, Sam Carter, Jo Harvelle or Caroline Forbes don't get enough love - or even get too much hate - this is the place for you.

I was just thinking yesterday that maybe the comm needs some sprucing up, and I have fairly limited graphic skills. Would anyone be interested in making new headers and voting on them in a contest?

Been thinking also about the fact that Kara_Stillness is on hiatus and there are no Kara icon comms currently running. Maybe we should have an icon challenge too?

Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller? ;)

One of the biggest Kara fans in our fandom,

amidala_thrace (aka padmekenobi, senatorfans_ink) passed away today after a long bout of illness. She was an incredible woman, full of unimaginable strength, great spirit and boundless enthusiasm and positivity. She faced great trials in her life and there was a wonderful tribute to her and her triumphant attitude published in The Ottawa Sun back in 2009. Our fandom has lost a great light with Liz's passing. She truly fought until she couldn't. :(
