Kara is an insubordinate student but a great athlete with, as we know, an abusive mother and an absent father (nothing unusual in Dillon... ) Tara would help Kara to find that she is not only good at sports, but that she is also smart and sensitive, that she can be very good in math as in english, and that she can do whatever she wants with her life.
