I agree with Shah here that this was nearly a breaking point for Kara. Her demeanor after stabbing Leoben with the chopsticks--the way she went back and ate dinner afterwards was 'scary'--followed by her reaction to Leoben's comments on his return, then the scene at the bars.
They deleted a scene where she tries to kill herself. I always envisioned that it followed this scene--even though she was in different clothes.
The show--and fanfics--so often make the brig sound like a second home to Kara. There certainly wasn't any feeling of that here, despite how homey Leoben tried to make it.
