This especially, sounded so like Kara's rationale to me: After the funeral, they all seem to want the blame, as though it were a frakking gold medal. To hear them tell it, everyone Zak knew was responsible for him wanting to be in that cockpit so damn badly. His father, his brother, half his friends...hell, she should just tell them all, right now. It would practically be good manners, and then she wouldn't be feeling so left out.
And yes, she really was a replacement Zak in many ways.
