Taking a little detour today to discuss Katee a bit more than Kara. But, basically, Starbuck was pretty much a role like no other. It's pretty tough to top it, in all its complexity and emotional heft and badassery. Still, what roles--past, present or future--would you want Katee to tackle?
She talked at Shore Leave about the lead role in this fall's Jerry Bruckheimer cop-ensemble drama Chase coming down to her and Kelli Giddish, the girl who actually got the job. I've seen a clip/trailer and I can totally see Katee in this role and would've welcome the sheer hotness that should erupt on my screen if she and Amaury Nolasco had scenes together. But I'm not sure a cop drama really is the best use of her talents, esp. since they seldom delve into character/emotion with much depth.
Another show I've been watching lately is USA's Covert Affairs, and I think Katee would be a natural fit as a spy, and yet, I can't exactly see her in the Piper Perabo role without a lot of the rest of the show changing too. Chris Gorham, who is the best part about it so far, wouldn't work against Katee IMO (too slight, too young-seeming....there's an imbalance there). And it would be hard, after seeing her as Starbuck and Sarah Corvus, to imagine her pulling off the professional insecurity/fumbling newbie-ness of Annie Walker. (Now...Alias, that...that would have been awesome. She might have even made Vaughn interesting! And Sark + Sid....whoo. I may still be bitter about her and David Anders never crossing paths on 24.)
What roles would you (have) like(d) to see her in?
ETA: Katee's upcoming roles (as mentioned by her at Shore Leave and London ComicCon recently):
--more episodes of The Big Bang Theory
--a role in A Haunting in Georgia
--the role of the mother/wife in Patient 001, which I found this lengthy description of posted earlier this year:
Patient 001 is co-produced by Frida Torresblanco of Pan's Labyrinth. The movie stars Michael Hayden and Noah Fleiss among others.
About the Film: Imagine being told the person you love most in the world, your first and great love, your husband, will never recover from a coma. Enduring loss is something that all people must face, but what if you could twist fate? A brilliant, maverick doctor offers you an opportunity to keep a part of this man alive. In absolute secrecy, you give birth to the world's first cloned baby. A great success. Finally ready to say "Goodbye" you bring the cloned baby into visit with your doomed husband, but the normally docile baby shrieks uncontrollably in the husband's presence. Not making anything of it you go home, but that night your husband has a terrible nightmare and is jolted back to consciousness.
Inspired by the story of Oedipus, Patient 001 is a sci-fi suspense thriller that catapults the classic myth into the 21st century - spinning a haunting tale that will frighten and move you. Can two people with the same spirit and desire share the earth?
MICHAEL HAYDEN received Tony, Olivier and Drama Desk nominations for his portrayal of Billy Bigelow in the Broadway show Carousel. He also received a Tony nomination for his turn in Judgement at Nuremberg, and was a key part of the critically and Tony awarded revival of Cabaret, directed by Sam Mendes. Michael also spent 3 seasons as the lead on the TV series "Murder One." Currently he is playing Henry in Henry V, and Richard in Richard II at the Shakespeare Theater Company's productions in Washington, DC.
NOAH FLEISS has received 3 Best Young Artist Awards for his performances in "Joe The King," "Chasing The Dragon," and "A Mother's Prayer." Nylon Magazine named Noah the next Edward Norton, and he was one of the stars, with Joseph Gordon Levitt, in the critically acclaimed award winning cult hit "Brick," directed by Rian Johnson.
