This makes me think of how much the weight of so many deaths was driving her down. It wasn't just leaving Anders behind like the show sort of implied. AND I both liked and hated Kat in Scar. It was nice seeing her maturing and take on a supportive role with the nuggets, but she sure wasn't inclined to extend ANY of that understanding to Kara. Glad Kara stole the wind out of her by making the toast at the end.
Scar has a lot of implausibility to it, for sure (Kat is good enough to unseat the Top Gun after what? Six months? Nine months? Please!) but I do like the moments that touch on the realities of war and how defeating it must be to go out there and have people die on you all the time and knowing you could die at any time, etc. That toast is one of my favorite Kara moments. It's a lovely growing moment. ♥
plus all this thing about Kat as a top gun was only a great misunderstanding. Kat shot down Scar only because Kara brought it right in front of her. Without Kara Kat would be dead, shot at her back by surprise by Scar... So Kat, come back to the kindergarden, the real pilots have a war to fight.
