One of the things I love about Thanksgiving is that, aside from all the holiday specials on TV, the regular shows usually have special episodes where the whole cast gets together and has dinner and cute bonding moments. BSG was never really that kind of show, of course. It had such a strong ensemble and yet they were very very seldom all in a scene together, and certainly nothing as quiet or heartwarming as sitting down for a thanksgiving meal. (Ellen Tigh and her roaming hands in Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, don't count!)

What kind of holidays, aside from Colonial Day, would you have liked to see them celebrate on Galactica? Or are you glad they never did that kind of stuff? What role would Kara have? Would they let her carve the turkey? (Hee!) What if Zak hadn't died/apocolypse never happened...could you picture Kara's first holiday dinner with the whole Adama clan?

I think each planet would have had their own way of celebrating their astrological patron. We wouldn't see them all, but certainly we would have seen Caprica's celebration. I imagine it much pagan than Colonial Day which was political.

Also with the "we better start having babies" seems like a spring fertility festival might have been emphasized. Fanfic played up this angle so much better than the series ever did.

Seems like someone would have celebrated a birthday or an anniversary, especially those lucky enough to still be alive and/or together. Saul and Ellen could have had a real comedy hour celebrating & reminiscing about their anniversary!

Also the colonials never commemorated the attacks like we do on Pearl Harbor Day or 9/11.

I think that an episode where the fleet commemorates the "year" since the cylon attack could have been a really good one. The crew's various ways of grieving/celebrating, a gamut of emotions from guilt and anger to gratefulness and solidarity.
And yeah, except for "we need to start having babies" and "no more abortions", they never pursued the repopulation storyline, but you'd think they would have a lot of work to do there and some fertility festivals would be pretty useful!
