My first fanvid in over 5 years!! I'm ridiculously excited to be vidding again. This video has in my head for several months now just waiting to be made. Now that I have a new computer I will be vidding fairly regularly when I get the chance. Enjoy!

Enjoyed it very much. Wished they'd spent more time through the series exploring her mom/daughter relationship. Of course, with what they did, it left it open for lots of fanfic/fanvid interpretation :)

Thank you, I was a little frustrated not all the piano parts matched up to the music as well as I would have liked, but it worked out ok in the beginning and the end clips, so it gets the point across I think. Glad you liked it! :)

Thank you! It always bothered me that the show never fully explored or explained why her father abandoned her and her mother completely, given that he must have known what Socrata was like. Still I like that she sort of dealt with it in her head anyway with the "piano man" and the music.

wow. beautiful, beautiful video. the words fit so perfectly with the images, and it was brave to explore Kara relationship with her mother.

now I want to hug Kara, hug her with all my strength and tell her that if her dad left and her mom was violent and brutal it was not her fault. but I think that she knew it. in the end she knew it.

Also, yep I agree with you. I'm sure she knows none of it was her fault as well. It's just what happened because sometimes people just suck and don't know how to handle their problems.

Actually, there's this deleted scene from "Eye of Jupiter" where Dee basically calls Kara out for using her "issues" as a crutch and excuse for cheating. In a messed up kind of way she's actually paying Kara a compliment saying she knows Kara is a stronger person than that because Adama trusts her and he wouldn't trust someone who couldn't get a handle on their issues. Now the Adama thing is actually debatable.... LOL but basically Dee was just trying to tell her that she knows Kara is a strong woman who has got her crap together when she decides to despite her awful past.

And I do think for the most part it's true. Not always true - especially after all the crap with Leoben - but generally Kara has a pretty firm grip on reality despite everything she's been through.

you know, I was thinking to that scene too. it's interesting because apparently Kara's past is not a secret. according to that deleted scene at least Adama, Lee and Dee know about it. the interesting is that Dee knows, if it was a personal confidence Dee wouldn't know. so I guess Kara's childhood is public, and it make sense considering that they are in the military with the records and everything...
I like this, because is not like something that Kara has to hide and to be ashamed, I think it's healthier if is not a secret.
