Reading an old interview with Katee from Season One, she conjectures:

On why Starbuck seemingly has it in for Col. Tigh: There’s got to be something more there and I think they just haven’t written it yet. Knowing our show, we’re gonna find out he’s her father or something stupid like that. I don’t know, something crazy.

Of course the Tighs are Kara's cylon "grandparents" b/c they created Daniel/Dreilide/7, thus granting Starbuck crazy hybrid ability to come back from the dead!!

Stupid and crazy? Yes.

Better than miscarriages of not enough love, Cally/HotDog retcon, deus ex machina, and Mitochondrial Eve? Also yes.

Besides, TMU, TMD becomes EVEN better when it's Kara's "grandmother" playing footsie with Kara's one true love. In fact, it makes all the cylon incest between Cavil/Ellen, Cavil/Boomer, Tigh/Cap6, Boomer/Chief even more squicky if you stop to think about Kara being with Great Uncle Sammy or Uncle Leoben. Um, ewww.

Looking at the two pics and thinking about their various characteristics, I'd say that Tigh and Ellen would fit right in as Kara's biological parents.

I always figured that Kara and Tigh were too alike and that's why they butted heads so hard (besides jealous of Adama's affection for the other).

I love how we went from the Starbuck/XO dynamic in the mini to the Kara/Saul relationship in season three. It's so sad that the writers almost never showed any other interaction between Kara and Tigh in season four. I wanted to see Kara joking about him being a cylon, Tigh putting a hand on her shoulder when Sam was in surgery... nothing dramatic, just little things to confirm their bond.

btw, I love when Tigh says "wow, look at you!". sweet uncle Tigh is sweet.

Tigh-Kara bonding moments are some of the most wonderful friendshippy moments on that show. (OK, among many) So much love for those two, and I agree with kitty above that he is obviously her grandfather!
