Oooh, this was really good. I like Lee as Kara's moral compass. I also love the way you describe her feelings for Cain -- "no one had ever commanded such respect from her as Admiral Cain." Her feelings for Cain are beautiful, because Cain is awesome and it's cool for Kara to have someone like her to look up to, but obviously also disturbed, because Cain is slightly insane and much of what she shares with Kara stems from her ruthlessness.
You do a good job of bringing that out here. Also... poor Gina! :-(
