Always love me some Kara/Karl action! How I wish they'd given us more moments between these two since they had super-friend chemistry :)

Would have liked to have seen Karl be there for Kara after New Caprica. His just 'tattling' on her and Tigh in Torn felt wrong on lots of levels. I suppose he was a bit pissed at their treatment of Athena, but we weren't really shown much there so still don't buy that he wouldn't have made some serious attempts to help Kara long before Maelstrom.

I actually did take that as him trying to help her. I assumed he felt like no one was really getting through to her, or that maybe she wouldn't listen to anyone but the admiral. I mean he also has that strong moral code, so as the acting XO, it was the right move to say "these two are going to start a mutiny if we're not careful" but I didn't get the impression that he did it...unkindly?

I think further exacerbating that problem though is that the show just got really bad in s3 and s4 about showing us those character moments. Especially if they weren't between the cylons or the main leads.

That's what I thought too, that Helo wasn't going to the Admiral to "tattle" so much as he thought the Old Man was the only person who could get through to Kara. I mean, apart from being the supreme commander, he was also practically Kara's dad, and Helo in his own way was trying to look out for her.

I liked the few character moments that S3 and S4 did have, like adored the scene at the end of Dirty Hands when Kara comes in and gives Seelix a hard time while telling her she's been commissioned (*sigh* that was the last time we see Kara happy before Maelstrom, which is just such misery for her :(), and the S4 moment when Helo (really thoughtfully and sweetly) gets all her stuff back that got auctioned off after her death.
