Gah! This scene makes me cringe. I felt so bad for her at that moment - like it wasn't hard enough to figure things out without Gaius blabbering for his own motives. But bravo for her slapping him. Grrr.
It was painful, and the fact that she slapped him showed that she was more hurt (maybe a little fearful) than angry.
I always kinda felt bad here for Baltar, too. He honestly was trying provide some hope against the grief and despair he saw around him. Like usual, for a genius, he was clueless on how it would effect Kara and rouse suspicions against her.
She was already so confused and to have Gauis lay bare the truth of that she'd really died, that whatever she was, a body had been found and positively identified as Kara Thrace had to strike on every self-doubt she'd been harboring.
A public outing against an unsuspecting subject is NEVER a good thing!
I thought Baltar believed the angel stuff, but at the same time was pretty obviously using her story in an attempt to garner public support/attention. I really liked how James Callis played that scene, you can see he feels like a shit for outing her but he did it anyway.

NEVER. The only positive outcome of this was that Lee finally came through for her the way you know he would have if she'd actually told him earlier, like she intended to - which finally meant she could accept the fact of her death and make peace with it. That and DadAdama telling her pretty much the same thing - that alive or dead, she was his daughter.
I love that slap. I remember some people thought she should've punched him harder, but I thought it was perfect and he wasn't really worth more than that.
in the end it was a good thing. thanks to Gaius Lee knew it, Adama knew it and both supported her. I think Kara deliberatly told about her dead body to Gaius, knowing that the news would eventually spread, becouse she needed to tell, but she was afraid to say it directly to someone she loved.
