As a side note, it's looking likely that Katee's big news is indeed the female lead in the third Chronicles of Riddick movie. Lots of news sites are reporting that an official offer has been made to her. She'd star alongside Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, and Bokeem Woodbine.

It's a great part, a very badass, stone cold fighter babe and she'd get to kick some major ass and be very snarky, so I'm kinda excited for her and the prospect of seeing Katee on the big screen, in something that possibly would get a wide release and do well around the world. But...I do kinda wish her news was even bigger. This could go direct to DVD, and there's already financial problems that have caused the movie to halt production once so far. Let's all hope for a good outcome for Katee though. If this is it, she seemed really jazzed so maybe she's confident it will lead to bigger and better things?

I wish Katee could get a different role, a mother with kids or something. But I guess she's still starting out.

And I hope it's better than The Last Sentinel. But it would kind of have to be, wouldn't it?

I love her and would watch her in anything, but she's so damn good at playing a tough girl convincingly (and so few actresses really are) and she seems to like it, so it makes sense why she'd follow that route. Would love to see her become the next Angelina Jolie or even Milla Jovovich. She could play a mother with kids when she gets older.

She is good at it! I worry when people get typecast. I saw Chiefy in White Noise the other day holding a baby boy at his wife's funeral. Whoa. That movie probably came out before BSG but still.

I just hope Katee is successful. She deserves success. :-)

Honestly? I don't think most average people (not obsessive fans like us) think she's typecast. She really doesn't work enough for that. :(

You know what I think really does it and flips Kara off the "cute" and into the "frakking adorable"? She has the most amazingly cute nose! It's so big and, well, "lumpy," when you compare it to all those typically-nosed women in TV/hollywood.
That, and she's just damn cute. No other way to hash it.

Concur! She's not stereotypically beautiful like Tricia Helfer--she's kinda sassy-cute with those beauty marks, sharp cheekbones, and pouty mouth.

Sometimes I thik Hollywood really is the most ridiculous place in the world with its beauty standards - if Katee's nose is considered big, I can only shake my head. But then it's the same place that told Keira Knightley to get a nose job when she was starting out, so I think things should be taken with a pinch of salt.


Katee's face, though, has this weird ability to flip between cute and heartbreakingly beautiful depending on her expression - it's just so mobile.

I so agree with you. Katee just has so many looks and expressions. She makes other actress seem wooden and flat by comparison. I think so much of her personality just shines through that it gives her a natural beauty that people respond to.

Oh, yay! I've never watched Chronicles of Riddick, but I'm very fond of Karl Urban and I'm always happy when actors I like get involved in the same projects :) I hope everything works out and that the movie goes well!
