Ok, so what strange and possibly embarassing things has your affection for Kara "Starbuck" Thrace led you to acquire or do? What kind of interesting Kara memorabilia have you bought (i.e. artwork, T-shirts, custom engraved hexagonal dogtags, silver thumb rings, etc.)? What types of things has Kara inspired you to do from the fannish (open an LJ, attend cons, lose several hours of sleep nightly on the internet, write fic and draw art and make vids and graphics, etc.) to the real-life (cut your hair short, be more assertive, smoke a cigar, take a kickboxing class, sign up for flying lessons, join the military, etc.)?

I bought a 'Kara' outfit a couple of years ago for a fancy-dress party - not totally accurate but I got grey and black tanks and a pair of green khaki shorts. I never went to the party but I often wear the shorts, especially when I'm in need of a little Kara-spiration.

I'm about to DIE from how cute that pony is. Like I can't even handle it.

I guess the sane answer is that I routinely keep my hair short in a cut inspired by hers (s3). I gotta say I like it. Really manageable. Doesn't get in my way when I work out. Doesn't get tangled. I don't even need to brush it, I just run my fingers through my hair.

The less sane one? For a long time when I was working out, it was extramotivational when I imagined her yelling at me to get my ass moving.

Did I ever tell you that I was a My Little Pony fanatic as a kid? I had over 100 of them, and outfits too, and I sold them on eBay a few years ago for several hundred dollars. Hee. Apparently customization of the ponies (like this Starbuck one) is the new rage. This one is seriously adorable. The full colors on the hoof is cracking me up.

I didn't know that. I had a few but was never super into them. But the customization thing is one I'd known about. I knew there had to be a Starbuck one but I'd never seen it. SOOO CUTE.

From time to time, I get a bit nervous about flying. Last time I felt nervous about it, I thought about how much Kara Thrace loves to fly, that it is second nature to her, and how it fills her with joy. Made me think about the power and beauty of flight. I felt a hell of a lot better. :)

i took a class in beat art and literature and i did a painting inspired by starbuck and her art. i lost it somewhere after i moved, unfortunately.

+ i have a mouth of a sailor, tattoos, short hair, i love cigars + rum and i have a complicated relationship with my mother.... no wonder i felt drawn to her. only she's MUCH tougher, cooler and sexier, mind you.

I used the hi-res picture of the wing tattoo and this site (http://www.straytats.com/), but I didn't have a camera, so no pictures. They were absolutely perfect, though.

I don't think I'm as cool as Kara but I do have a pair green cargo shorts and a black tank. When I wear I feel badass like Starbuck but that's it.:)

Such a cute pony! I love the dog tag. Alas, I don't have any Kara memorabilia or stories. I have written fic and read a lot about her. And very, very occasionally I used to pretend I was in a Viper driving on the highway and the other cars were raiders. Hee. Only when I was annoyed, though. I did not try to drive like Kara, though. :-)

Definitely write fic, meta and everything else - actually, my entire participation in fandom is due to falling so hard for Kara. Never would have found it otherwise. ... Woah, it kind of just hit me that I owe some of my friends to Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. o.O :D

Also, I wouldn't say she inspired my most recent haircut, but I have to admit I thought of her when I first started being able to do the mini-ponytail thing.

And when faced with a stressful situation, I have been known to picture her in that scene in Resurrection Ship II where she's walking down the hall, on the way to assassinate Cain and probably die herself. Compared to that, my problems look downright manageable. ;)
