It seems like we say this a lot around here: "Poor Kara! She needs a hug!" So I thought we should have a Hug-a-thon this weeekend!
Post pretty pictures of her receiving hugs (or giving them!) Talk about your favorite in-canon Kara hugs or maybe that time when she REALLY should have been hugged but wasn't. Or really should've hugged someone but didn't! Draw a picture of Kara hugs! Write a drabble or fic about hugging! There's all kinds of potential reasoning/kinds of hugs she could be giving or receiving: friendship, gratitude, support, comfort, elation, etc.

.... but I think that we needed an entire ep of people reacting to Kara's return. We never saw Helo's switch from ???? to {{{{Kara}}}}. Athena would know she's not a cylon, and probably not one of the FF. She could have nudged Kara.
Of course, the lack of a welcome committee only makes Lee's welcoming embrace stand out that much more. And, in contrast to Sam's "I don't everybody you were too mean to kill" joke line .... if he's so broken up (plus his mind is fried from finding out he's a cylon AND a raider just scanned him in the battle) why's he making cruel jokes. Lee's barely able to talk. Plus I love the sound effect of his boots pounding the deck as he runs HARD to get to Kara.

Date: 2011-01-29 08:26 pm (UTC)Lee is good, he's a good boy. When Sam comes running up, just as excited and just as scared, and throws his arms around his wife, Lee steps to the side. Just far enough not to get caught in the crossfire. Sam and Kara, their love was always a little too rough for Lee, I think. Jock love.

"Okay, what the hell's going on? I'm off the ship for a few hours and everybody's acting..." When Sam tries to explain it was two months, she spits that her ship's clock still registers six hours and change. Lee speaks softer now, searching for her eyes. Lee and Kara, their love was always just a little too gentle, I think, for Sam to really believe. Maybe for all of us. Certainly for them.
The "Certainly for them" is the part that really resonates with me.

Date: 2011-01-29 05:30 pm (UTC)and I also hated that during the mutiny Lee received like three hugs from his dad and Kara nothing. but it's true that she was all in combat mode at that time... I'm always quite jealous when it comes to Kara.
she also needed a hug in sickbay when she was assisting Sam. and of course before, when she was waiting news about Sam's operation. but again, the FF were to busy with their stupid problems. I really think that Tigh should have hugged her, or at lest put a hand on her shoulder.

Date: 2011-01-30 09:04 pm (UTC)the first time I saw the scene in the CIC I was thinking all the time "where the frak is Kara? everyone is hugging, why in the the hell she's not there!" and then she was in the frakking Memorial Hallway. ok, she had to deal with the all "my husband is a cylon" but I wanted her in the CIC hugging Lee and Papadama and Laura (well maybe Laura didn't deserve an hug at the time, but Kara would give it anyway...)
is like in Exodus2 when everyone is celebrating and Kara and Tigh are devastated. it's so sad... but it's also true that in the end it's what makes bsg such a wonderful show. if it was all happiness and flowers probably we wouldn't be so involved...
still, Kara needs more hugs. thanks the gods we have fanfics!

Sam in LYBD because, she was so happy and I like to keep my favorites balanced between joyful and angsty, thanks. ;)
I'm still a little annoyed that they had to go for the lonely, broken shots of Kara, Tigh, and Gaeta during the end of Exodus 2, because if there was ever a time she needed one..... Right after SaGN too when all the likely candidates were *very* distracted and no one was really connecting at all.
( The real question here is why my icon overhaul hasn't included ANY Kara hugs. Must fix.)
